| CHIMP AND ZEE, Bookshop by the Sea |
The
shop was created in a small and ancient Grade ll listed building in
the centre of town. It took Laurence
and a team of carpenters, model-makers and engineers more than a
year to create and it is crammed with wonderful details - Degas’
Little Dancer turns under a spotlight and of course there are purpose-built
cabinets stacked with signed copies of the Anholt’s books. |

“This
is the first time my husband and kids have spent an entire afternoon
in one shop - we are absolutely enchanted!” reads a typical
entry in the visitor book.
At the back of the shop an oak tree 'grows' through
the counter right up into the roofspace on the first floor. As you
climb the driftwood staircase, you enter the calm space. of the
upstairs gallery which is hung with rotating exhibitions of original
illustrations and signed prints by the Anholts. |
